BBQ to thank the Gardening Volunteers

BBQ to thank the Gardening Volunteers

Your BHAG committee continues to meet monthly whilst keeping a watchful eye on all matters at Bellingen Hospital.

  • BHAG’s AGM was held on June 29 2011. Pia Dollmann, the outgoing chairperson, addressed those present,  giving a comprehensive report on BHAG’s work over the last year or so. A new committee  of 7 people was voted in, however we are still looking for a chairperson.  The position is not onerous with the challenges of 12 months ago behind us.  If you would like to join our committee please contact Barb Moore (vice chairperson) on 66551898.
  • In August the Hospital/Community Bus was given back to the community.  Community Transport took delivery of it on the 12th August.  BHAG received the following statement:  Bethany Simmonds (Manager of Coffs Harbour, Bellingen & Nambucca Community Transport Inc. stated that “Coffs Harbour, Bellingen & Nambucca Community Transport Inc. are delighted to confirm that the 1990 Toyota Coaster Bus, Registration No. ROV803 which was transferred to them from the Mid North Coast Health District will be used in the Bellingen Shire for the communities of Dorrigo, Bellingen, Urunga and surrounds.  We intend to replace the old bus with a newer, larger bus at some stage in the future and this will also be used for the Bellingen Shire community.” This is reassuring to know that this asset will remain in the Shire.
  • The volunteer Gardening Group continues to meet fortnightly.  They have now been working on the hospital gardens for 15 months & are regarded as an essential volunteer group beautifying the gardens & resurrecting many areas that are overgrown with weeds.  Recently a BBQ was held in their honour for work they are doing in the Hartley House area.
